Only Christmas exceeds Halloween on my kids’ list of favorite holidays. They get pretty psyched about the candy, dressing up, pumpkins, decorated houses, and the thrill of trick-or-treating.
This year was a little mellow compared to past because the kids had stomach flu that hung around for two weeks. So, no trunk or treat (Sadie hates it anyway), no fall festival, and no corn maze. Oh well.
We still managed to carve pumpkins for family home evening:
Halloween was on a Wednesday this year so Sadie had preschool in the morning. All the children put on a parade for the parents. Sadly, Sadie did not enjoy it one bit. She cried and cried so Jax, McKay and I walked with her. Sometimes I feel like a side show in a carnival act. So many little kids all needing different things at the same time. It’s a challenging juggling act sometimes.
After the parade Sadie went on to finish her day at preschool while the boys and I went to story time at the library.
I’m sure we did something in the afternoon but I failed to take a picture and my mind can’t seem to recall what it was. My pictures are my memory and journal these days. If I fail to photograph then I forget it ever happened. Momnesia!
In the evening we trick or treated with the Cricchios and Tickners. It’s a tradition. This was the final year of the tradition though because it looks as if both families will have moved by next Halloween. Happy for them; sad for us.
Happy Halloween!
Shannon - I love all the pictures Alicia, especially the last one. The boys look awestruck at all the candy in front of them!
Matt - I love the dignified look of the bumble bee at story time 🙂
