Halloween seems to become a bigger and bigger celebration each year! Between Trunk or Treat, Fall Festival(s), school parties/parades/shows, pumpkin carving, and the actual trick-or-treating on Halloween our whole week is full of fun.
This year we went with the extended family to Hundsader Farms for a Fall Festival the Saturday before Halloween. The ostrich pecking the kids hands was the highlight of my day! We also enjoyed a Birds-of-Prey show, Bear show, and corn maze (girls won! but the boys got the most bang for the buck).
Out to lunch after the Festival…..
Trunk or Treat was loads of fun! I was in charge of the activity so I was busy throughout the evening and didn’t get any pictures except for one at home after it was over. Jax was Woody, McKay was a dinosaur, Sadie was “under the sea”. She had seaweed hair, and lots of different ocean creatures attached to her. She won Most Creative Costume award. She had mostly taken off her costume by this picture so I just had her hold the dolphin. They had their faces painted there and they don’t necessarily match the costumes. Jax almost fell asleep during the face painting. He finds it so relaxing.
McKay had a school performance and party on Halloween that I helped out with. It’s always fun to be in the kid’s classrooms and see what things are like.
Sadie and Jax had a Storybook Parade at their school where they dress up as a character from a book. Jax insisted on being Woody from Toy Story. Sadie insisted on being Elsa from Frozen. I wanted to be a little more unique but I choose to “Let it gooooo…..” I know I took pictures but I can’t seem to find them.
On Halloween we carved our pumpkin and hit the streets at sunset. The kids were a hoot! In years past they’ve been nervous and cautious. This year they were full of excitement and sprinted from house to house!! Ben and I could barely keep up. They were all giggles and laughs. It was a fun night. McKay was a race car driver, Jax was spiderman, and Sadie was Elsa.
A very Happy Halloween it was!
