Tonight I went to my first ever work out class. I was on the treadmills running and saw a line for a class forming outside the exercise room. I mentally debated with myself for a while and finally thought, “Why not?”. So I meandered on in and stood around stretching, trying to fit in. I looked like an fool, I’m sure. Finally it started and I discovered what class it was – Zumba!!!
Oops.
Zumba is a dance hip-hop workout. Seeing as how I don’t have an ounce of rhythm or grace it wasn’t exactly a perfect fit for me. I was absolutely terrible. I mean ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Anytime they went right, I went left. Anytime they swiveled their hips, I just kindof did a squat. I looked stiff. I looked awkward. In conclusion, (and I don’t use this word often) I looked stupid.
Strange thing is, though, I loved it. It was really fun and I couldn’t stop laughing at my own ridiculousness.
I think I’ll go again next Friday night.

Sharla - I too am terrified of Zumba, but at the same time I think it looks fun. That’s awesome that you had the guts to go to a class. I’m not that brave, though. I recently ordered Zumba for wii and I’m sure I’ll be laughing the whole time through.
alicia - Cool Sharla! That sounds like a fun activity. I’m thinking of starting that health challenge tracker sheet again. My diet is just awful lately. Have you done another round since that last one we did? It sure was helpful!
Shannon - Good for you Alicia! I’m sure with more practice you’ll get better. The other ladies have probably already been attending the class more often. I’m also pretty sure they weren’t noticing your inexperience with zumba. Whenever I exercise I’m usually very intent on watching the person up front so I don’t mess up myself.
By the way, are you in this picture or is this an advertisement picture?
alicia - Thanks! That picture was just one I’d found online. With wordpress I need an image to go along with each post so I just googled zumba….that was the only modest one I found 🙂
