SOLD!

We sold our house.

I’m in shock.

We listed it on a Saturday.  We had one showing on Sunday.  Three on Monday.  An offer on Tuesday.  We countered on Wednesday.  They accepted our offer on Thursday.  Friday I cried on and off all day. Saturday I started telling people.

I knew it would be like this.  I’ve waited for this day for so long but now that it’s hear it’s very bittersweet.  I’m really now allowing myself to think about it too much. It’s too painful to think about each thing we do and place we go as being one of our lasts. We have loved this home and have so many wonderful family memories here.

We still haven’t found our next perfect home which is adding to our stress.  We’ll definitely be living with my parents for some amount of time.  We’re lucky to have them.  I’m trying think of the positives of living with them.  They are very easy to live with; it’s us who may be challenging for them to live with.  Also, logistically it would be much easier to move our stuff and schools once instead of twice.  So, I’ve been trying to think of all the positives in this scenario like  being able to walk Sadie to the same great elementary school I attended as a child, having built in babysitters, going to the beach every night for sunset, and developing an even closer relationship with my parents.  I’m grateful we have somewhere to go instead of renting.  It will work out.  I just hope when we sign the paperwork on closing day that we have our next home picked out and I’ll know I’m moving on to something better.

We’re exploring 203K fixer-upper loans.  We have a house picked our we like that’s going to auction on March 14th – 16th.  We’re hoping that will be the one.  It will need quite a lot of work – new flooring, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new baseboards, a new AC.  So, if we get that one it will still take 4 – 6 weeks of time to get it livable.  That probably works out well, though, because that’s when school will be getting our for Sadie.  It’s quite possible we won’t get it, though.  That will be disappointing.

So, there you have it.

Shocking.

Tomorrow I begin packing non-essentials.

Today I get to enjoy one more day of peaceful orderliness before everything gets turned upside down.

Shannon - Your house looks great! I’m happy to hear it sold so quickly. Our house in Virginia sold over a weekend as well. I hope you find a house soon. Are there a lot of homes for sale right now where you are? Will you hire someone to do all of the renovations? I’m excited to see where you will end up:)ReplyCancel

alicia - Yes! We definitely plan to hire someone to do the renovations. We’ll do some of the little stuff but most will be contracted out. I’m excited to see where we end up, too 🙂ReplyCancel
