Swim Lessons

We recently finished up swim lessons at the YMCA.  The kids enjoyed them.  I didn’t think the instructors pushed them all that hard but by the last class things clicked for Jax and now he’s a swimmer, so I’m happy we did it.  Sadie learned all the different strokes and can do each one pretty good. I love to watch her do her backstroke.  I think that’s her best.  McKay didn’t make huge progress but he’s  more comfortable around the water and had a good time. Success?

On this particular night I brought my big camera which was serendiptious as it was the night that Jax made huge progress.  It actually happened after class.  At this YMCA pool there is a kiddie splash pool where we played before and after class.  It was during that playtime that he started putting his face in the water.  Once he was tolerant to that he could pretty much swim.  It was fun to watch him practice and figure it out. In preparation of each plunge he would count to himself, “1…..2…..3……go!”  And then he’d beam with pride as he emerged.  It was adorable.
