First Father/Son Campout

Ben works with the youth at our church and last weekend the boys had a Scout campout.  Ben offered to take Jax with him on the campout.  Brilliant!

With Sadie doing so many new and exciting things at preschool this was a perfect opportunity for Jax to get some individual attention and go on a fun adventure.  The boys at church are always good to give Jax attention and he especially loves being around Bishop Smith and Manden, both of whom were there.

Jax had so much fun that he refused to fall asleep on Friday night.  Ben says he was up until 12:30.  Jax kept asking questions about the tent, campfire, boys, sky, flashlight, sleeping bags, etc.  He was so fascinated by it all.

The next morning Jax slept in until 9:45 or so.

Once he woke up he was rearing to go again.  They were learning how to build and start fires and Jax really enjoyed watching the boys do that.

He was filthy when he got home!  He had dirt all over him, a crusty nose, a manly cut on his hand, and a smile from ear to ear.

I gave him a little sponge bath and then tried to put him down for a nap thinking he was exhausted from his late night.  I was wrong.  He just wanted to talk and discuss all the things he had seen and done.  It’s really amazing to watch their little minds categorize and organize new events.

Needless to say, his first Father-Son campout was a huge success and Ben’s looking forward to taking him on many more in the future.  Aren’t you dear?

Shannon - Wow! Jax was one dirty boy when he got home. I bet he was in heaven going camping with his daddy. Derek has always loved when Bret takes him on the Father’s/Son’s Campout.ReplyCancel
