Brothers

I had my doubts but it’s finally happening.  Jax and McKay are becoming friends.  Best of friends, actually.

Up until a few months ago they’ve mostly ignored each other with an occasional argument thrown in the mix.  Lately they play together from sun up to sun down.  It’s nice to see.

From my observation I think the change occurred during one of McKay’s language explosions.  Now that he can communicate with Jax he often initiates play and brings Jax along during his mischievous expeditions.  I asked McKay last week if he thought he was the big brother or the little brother.  His reply, “MoMo the BIG brother!”  Just as I expected him to reply.

I’ve been reminding Jax that he’s the big brother and he needs to set a good example.   Many of McKay’s play ideas end in messes, tears, and time-outs.  I secretly love his crazy, funny ways, though. And I LOVE to watch these two play together. Here are a few scenes from their interactions lately.

So typical. Jax has his perfectly put together puzzle and McKay performing to get a laugh and attention.

Jax is really into giving these aggressive, tight hugs lately. He is just overwhelmed by love and squeezes the life out of those he loves. Poor McKay. He loves it and hates it.

Shannon - What cute brothers! In our house the boys can be the best of friends or one another’s worst tormentors as of late. Can’t wait to get all of our boys together!ReplyCancel
