Christy, Matt, and Maddy came to visit on April 15th. Highlights included celebrating the end of tax season, Easter, and Jess’s baptism. We had a great visit! Usually we’re way up in New Port Richey and it’s a lot of work to come down for the day or have them come up. This trip we were all packed in the upstairs of my parents’ house. The kids loved Maddy and McKay enjoyed being a “big brother”. We had a ball! Kimmy came into town on the last day of their visit so it was especially fun to have all of the siblings together and make many fun memories.
Last year I gave a talk on Easter about creating Easter traditions in our families. Sadly, with the chaos of the move we did very few of the things I had planned. We did manage to color Easter eggs, though. Next year, hopefully, I’ll have the time to make it more meaningful.
This Easter it was really fun to have a large group. Julie’s cousin David and Catherine and their two girls came (we’ll be in their ward in Tampa when we move) along with Sarah’s parents, Joe and Julie’s family, Mike and Sarah’s family, my parents, Gramma Meyers, and Jess (my cousin). There were 12 kids in all and 16 adults – very fun!
Just before the Easter egg hunt we talked to the kids about why we celebrate Easter and how the Savior rose from the tomb and Catherine helped the kids make resurrection rolls.
We had the Easter egg hunt while the resurrection rolls baked in the oven. It was a hoot to watch. The kids ran around wildly, squealing with excitement as adults stole eggs from their baskets and re-hid them.
Kimmy arrived late that night. We had Jess’s baptism early the next morning (seperate post about that) and then we played at the park and had a get together Monday evening. I loved having all of us together! It was really cherished time. It was surprisingly wonderful having all of us under one roof, too. Evenings were especially enjoyable as we could get the kids to sleep and have uninterrupted time to talk.
Get together Monday evening with the whole family and my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Gary:
It was a very enjoyable visit! Christy’s baby is due the end of July; not sure when they’ll be back for their next visit. Whenever it will be – it won’t be soon enough.
Matt - Great pictures!
