Bridal Expo

Now that Sarah and I are both not pregnant at the same time we’re pursuing photography a little more.  Actually, I want the D800 with the 24 – 70mm 2.8 lens and those two little precious toys cost around $4000.  So, I’m pursuing photography a little more for that reason and pushing Sarah to do the same.

This past weekend we had our first bridal fair.  It was A LOT of work.  It cost A LOT of money.  I hope it will pay off.  So far we don’t have any bookings from it but we felt pretty great about our interactions with the brides.  Most people say the contracts come along during the follow-up not on the day of the bridal fair.  Let’s hope that’s true.

On top of the chaos of preparing business cards, brochures, booth design, building our booth design, designing the website, blogging to the website, and a myriad of other things little McKay has been teething.  Two of his molars broke through this past week and he’s working on a few more.  There were several days/nights he had a high fever of 102 and 103.  Poor little guy has been miserable.  His fever is gone but he’s still pretty clingy and pathetic.

He has big lips all the time, but can you tell is bottom lip is swollen in the picture below.  He’s really been suffering.

Lucky little Jax has been watching shows lately during McKay’s morning nap so I can get a few things done.  He quite enjoys it, but it leaves me feeling guilty.

After the bridal show on Saturday (I was gone from 6AM to 6PM) I let the kids make a huge pile of pillows and play in them.

Then I took the boys to the field and let them play baseball.  Sadie stayed home and watched the BYU football game with Ben.  Much to my sadness she doesn’t like going on walks anymore.

I really love taking pictures of people.  I wouldn’t call myself a very talented person but this is one thing that I really, really enjoy and would like to get better at.  I hope it’s worth the time and effort required to improve, practice, and purchase equipment 🙂

In other news:

  • I’m watching Ethan and Charlie this week while Mike, Sarah, and my parents are in Prague, Paris, and Venice.  I have a 4, 3, 2, 1, and 0 year old for the next 8 days.  Right now they’re all happily sleeping through our house – Charlie’s in our closet, the three older kids are in Sadie’s room, and McKay is his den.
  • I’ve gained two pounds and have only worked out 5 times in the last 4 months.  Really miss my nightly runs.  I definitely need to start up again but I’m struggling to find the motivation and energy after a long day of work.
  • Sadie couldn’t love preschool more.  She’s learning so much and seems so happy.  So happy and grateful about that!  My favorite part of the day is going to pick her up.  She’s always so excited to see me and so talkative about all the things they did that day.
  • Ben is perfect.  Just thought I’d throw that out there.  He’s so supportive, so encouraging, so helpful, so hardworking, so sweet with the kids, and always so dang cheerful.  I’m really quite convinced that I’m married to the most perfect living male.  Jax is his twin; equally patient, sweet, and kind.
  • Shadow ate a whole stick of butter off the counter this morning.  Nothing seems to affect his stomach.  Remember when he ate 12 cupcakes including the wrappers and never had a single problem afterwards.  He’s a freak of nature.
  • Kimmy comes home in less than two months.  Very happy about that.
  • The Cricchios are moving to Texas.  Very sad about that.
  • It’s 9:26 and I’m going to bed.  Good night!
