The Week McKay Grew Up

McKay has changed so much this week.  He grew up overnight.  If I weren’t here to witness it myself I wouldn’t even believe the transformation.  He is a pretty confident walker now.  It’s painfully adorable to watch him toddle around the house.  I wasn’t sure if it would be but it is just as thrilling to watch the third learn how to walk as it was the first. He’s loving his newly learned abilities and seems so pleased with himself.

I’m also working on slowly weaning him.  He’s down to 4 or 5 nursings a day.  It’s still a lot but it’s so much less often than he was nursing a month ago.  I’m so happy I stuck it out.  We had our challenges back around months 5, 6, and 7 and 10.  He was biting a lot and then my milk supply dropped.  As unpleasant as night feedings are I really believe they’ve been necessary to keep my milk supply up. He still wakes up at least once a night. Hopefully not much longer, though.

He’s become much more independent in the last week also.  A month ago I still held him most of the time but he’s slowly letting me put him down more.  Now he’s pretty content to play with toys and explore niches as long as I’m close at hand. He sure keeps me busy.  He has a mind for mischief and a lot of restless energy.  Not a good combination!

He has a constant need to climb which scares me to death.  This week I dreamed that he fell down a flight of stairs and Ben scooped him up but he wasn’t crying.  I was trying to get his attention and kept saying, “McKay, look at mommy, honey….look here baby” but his eyes were just empty and he wouldn’t respond.  Well, since then I’ve watched him like a hawk and it’s a good thing because I’m always pulling him off furniture. Stressful!

He’s happiest when he’s outdoors and exploring new places.  We went to a park with my mom this past week and I think it was the happiest day of McKay’s life.  He was glowing with joy. I think he was psyched to finally put his new found walking abilities into practice outside.

We love him that’s for sure.  He knows it, too.

Christy - Love the new layout Alicia. It looks great! And the pictures are fantastic too. I love the pictures from your last post with the kids wearing your glasses.

You asked me a few months ago if your photos are worth money. YES. They are great. Bravo!
